We've Got Game

Tanner was a late bloomer and started competing in sports in eighth grade. At 6’5” and 305 lbs, this Lynx lineman hopes to continue to play in college.

“My goals for this year are both personal and team oriented. We want to win our conference championship and win the play-offs. I would like to do my best to contribute to those goals and play well enough to be recruited to the next level,” said Tanner.

Chase Tanner likes everything about football. Tanner plays left guard and defensive tackle for Abraham Lincoln. The past three years have been focused on the game.

“I like hitting, being part of the team, bonding with players,” said Tanner. “I’m thankful to have it as part of my life. I play football in the fall, lift weights in the winter and summer, and in the spring I compete in track and field.”

Jenny Brown

Jenny Brown plans to be a more vocal leader for the Mustangs softball team. This summer she hit .380 for the Omaha Quakes Gold. Brown also plays point guard for the Millard North basketball team.  While she’s played center field for most of her career, this fall she moved to second base.

“Playing second base is new for me, but I like it,” said Brown. “I’ve been playing for a longtime, seven years with the Quakes Gold team, and I love the friendships, looking forward to the next game or practice.”

She is optimistic about the Mustang’s chances for state.

“I think we have a good chance to get back to state again this year. All the starters are back except for one. The students, parents and teachers here at Millard North have been really supportive of our team. Winning state would be a great way to end the year.”

Chelsey Feekin

Chelsey Feekin loves volleyball and she knows what she wants. The senior setter for the Papio Monarchs has been playing since she was seven and will continue to play in college.

“I’m committed to Wichita State, it’s a really good school, the volleyball program is 16th in the nation and I will be playing in the Missouri Valley Conference.” “I look forward to college,” said Feekin, “but right now I am focused on a repeat state championship.”

Feekin enjoys the social and competitive elements of volleyball too.

“I play club ball in the summer and during the school season it’s fun seeing girls on the other teams and playing against them. Last year we won state as the underdog,” said Feekin. “This year we are the top seed, so we need to learn how to deal with the pressure and stay out of our heads. Winning this year would be the perfect ending to a perfect season.”
